Coquina Sands Has Two Ways Into The Four Seasons This Fall, And One Of Them Is The Beach

Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort, opened on November 17, 2025, with 220 rooms and five places to eat and drink. Its own press releases place it in Old Naples. For most of its first year, though, the only way to drive in has been from the north, along the stretch of Gulf Shore Boulevard North toward Lowdermilk Park and Coquina Sands. The City's Stormwater Beach Outfall project closed the road on the south side, and the beach to the west has stayed open the whole time.

Both ways in are still open this October, and between them, a neighbor to the north can use more of the property than a hotel address suggests.

The road door runs through the north end

When the resort opened, the only way to drive in was on Gulf Shore Boulevard from the north. A resort spokesperson, Delaney, told Naples Press that drivers on U.S. 41 should turn west on Banyan Boulevard, go left at the Gulf Shore Boulevard North signal, and drive past the "road closed" signs for about half a mile to the main entrance. A City traffic alert dated December 10, 2025, sent resort traffic from Banyan onto Crayton Road and Oleander Drive. That put the detour on Coquina Sands' own residential streets for a stretch of last season.

The closure has since moved south. The most recent City traffic bulletin we found, covering May 29 to June 5, 2026, listed Gulf Shore Boulevard North as closed from south of 6th Avenue North to north of Central Avenue. It sent drivers around by 7th Avenue North and by Central Avenue via 3rd Street South. We haven't found a later road bulletin. Anyone heading south past the resort should check the City's current notices before counting on a through route.

The project is moving faster than planned. In its May 2026 update, the City said work was tracking ahead of schedule. It set the final roadway, drainage and water-main phase to start in August and finish by year-end, and it estimated overall completion in May 2027. That replaces the end-of-2026 date quoted around the resort's opening. By August 11, the Naples Daily News reported that all four major parts of the $86 million project were more than 60% complete.

The beach door costs less than the driveway

The resort has no public parking lot, and every car goes to the valet. At launch, Naples Press reported the charge as $60, or $15 with a validated purchase at any of the resort's dining spots. We haven't found newer published rates, so treat those as opening-season numbers.

The sand side has no gate. In the same Naples Press Q&A, Delaney said anyone in beachwear can walk in off the beach for food and drinks at the Sunset Bar or HB's:

"You can come right off the beach. Even our bartenders are in T-shirts and shorts, so it's pretty casual."

She added that Adirondack chairs sit in the sand behind the bar, and that the resort has seen weekend visitors arrive by boat to eat at HB's. Both pool areas are for hotel guests only.

The Sunset Bar was rebuilt on the footprint of the original Sunset Beach Bar, and it now serves an all-day Mexican menu: tacos, nachos, ceviche, corn ribs and chorizo burgers. HB's has a raw bar, grilled grouper, baked snapper, shrimp curry, lobster rolls and Jimmy P's smash burgers.

That makes the beach the obvious way in from Coquina Sands. The question is where to step onto it.

Which accesses are open right now

The stormwater work has closed four North Avenue beach ends. On the City's live status table, Lowdermilk Park and every access listed north of it are open, and the closures begin at 8th Avenue North.

Beach access Status on the City table
Lowdermilk Park Open
1977 Gulf Shore Blvd N, Gulf Towers pathway Open
8th Ave N Closed, stormwater outfall project
7th Ave N Open, construction complete
North Lake Drive Open, construction complete
6th Ave N Open, construction complete
4th, 3rd and 2nd Ave N Closed, stormwater outfall project

The 8th and 3rd Avenue North ends are closed because pump stations are being built there. In May, the City expected the 3rd Avenue North station to be running by August and the 8th Avenue North station by September. Both ends still show as closed in early October, so they have missed those targets. The City's beach access page is updated more often than any project newsletter.

Lowdermilk Park is the main access on the Coquina Sands end, with parking, volleyball, a playground, restrooms and showers, gazebos and ADA beach mats. A City or Collier beach permit or pay-by-space parking is required year-round. Seagate Drive is a metered visitor access at $5 an hour. For a resident with a permit, parking at Lowdermilk and walking south along the sand gets you to the Sunset Bar without a valet ticket.

What sits behind the bar, once you're there

The walk-up bars are only the beach-facing edge of the property. Over the past year, the resort has opened more spaces it describes as serving locals as well as guests.

  • Naples Trading Company. This is the coffee, food and provisions stop in Market Square, which the resort describes as a place where "guests and locals come together." At launch, its hours were reported as 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The resort now lists it as open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The Sanctuary spa. It opened March 18, 2026, for resort guests and the local community, with appointments daily. The spa page lists hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The Merchant Room. This is the lobby brasserie, with a menu by chef Gavin Kaysen that includes dry-aged steaks and house-made pasta. It received Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence in July 2026.
  • The Racquet Club. It opened June 10, 2026, with six Har-Tru clay courts under Director of Racquets Matthew Bacon. Programs include daily Drill and Play clinics, Cardio Tennis on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and advanced clinics on Tuesdays and Sundays. The release doesn't say whether non-guests can book, so call ahead.

October adds a later night

Two rooms in Market Square are still to come. The Picture House screening room is listed as opening in fall 2026. The Wager comes first, and the resort lists it as "Opening October 2026," a sports pub with grilled food, shareable plates, a bowling alley and a game lounge, open 11 a.m. to midnight. As of early October, the page still says "opening" without a date, and the resort's line is (239) 944-7600. At launch, the Sunset Bar was reported to close at 8 p.m. and HB's at 9 p.m. If those hours still hold, The Wager would keep a room on the property open about three hours later than the beachfront bars.

The golf course has moved the other way. The opening announcement listed The Gardens, the Tom Fazio course, among the amenities debuting in 2026. The resort's homepage now says "coming in 2027." That's the same year the City expects to finish the stormwater project. For this season, the course stays unfinished, Lowdermilk Park stays open, and Gulf Shore Boulevard stays closed south of the resort.

Further out, Naples Botanical Garden holds its Día de los Muertos celebration October 31 and November 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Night Lights in the Garden runs from November 27 through January 3.

Changes on Gulf Shore Boulevard North, from road closures to new rooms at the Four Seasons, affect how Coquina Sands homes are valued and lived in. If you'd like a clear read on what this year has meant for your property, Maureen Sexson is glad to prepare a personal home valuation or talk it through at your convenience.
